''Phacopidina micheli micheli'' (Tromelin) est un trilobite ''dalmanitidæ'' particulièrement abondant dans certains gisements du Llandeilo armoricain (Ordovicien moyen).<br/><br />
Les nodules fossilifères de Traveusot en Guichen ou “Château-Gaillard” en Bain de Bretagne (I & V) peuvent ainsi contenir plus d'une dizaine d'individus. Les carapaces dorsales complètes sont fréquentes, abondance également de céphalons, pygidiums et plèvres isolés ; présence de nombreux spécimens enroulés. La conservation en nodule est excellente permettant des observations très fines.<br/><br />

Jean-Louis HENRY notait dans « Trilobites ordoviciens du Massif Armoricain » (Mém. Soc. Géol. Minéral. Bretagne 22 / 1-250 Rennes 1980) que les petits céphalons holaspis de ''Phacopidina micheli micheli'' (Tromelin) présentaient de petites pointes génales alors que les plus grands spécimens en étaient dépourvus.<br/> <br />

J'ai examiné quelques dizaines d'exemplaires provenant du Llandeilo de Bain de Bretagne (I & V) ce qui m'a permis les quelques remarques suivantes ainsi que la sélection de ces quelques clichés.<br/><br />
<br />
Tous les céphalons pour lesquels L (longueur max. du céphalon) est inférieur à 6 mm possèdent des pointes génales souvent acérées (voir par ex. planche 2, spécimens n° 340 et 372) ; elles forment un angle obtus avec la bordure marginale latérale. Sur certains spécimens qui semblent en être dépourvus, s'observe une nette cicatrice, reste d'une pointe brisée (voir planche 2, spécimens n° 275 et 283). Leur structure est creuse.<br/><br />
Tous les céphalons pour lesquels L est supérieur à 8 mm, montrent un angle génal dépourvu de pointe réelle. Les plus grands spécimens (L = 10 mm, ce qui est assez rare) possèdent un angle génal arrondi (voir planche 1, spécimen de droite).<br/><br />
Pour L entre 5 et 8 mm différents stades sont observables : régression progressive des pointes devenant courtes et pointues ou simple excroissance (sorte de « bouton ») (voir planche 2, spécimen n° 499) .<br/><br />
